The blue is airbrushed, not printed. It sits heaviest at the scalloped edge and fades away to nothing by the middle of the bowl, which is a finish that has to be done piece by piece and is the reason no two of these six fade at quite the same rate.
Underneath the colour there is a moulded lattice worked into the porcelain itself — a raised diamond trellis that catches the glaze more thickly in its hollows and so reads darker there. You only really see it when the light is low and across.
These are shallow, closer to a pasta plate than a soup bowl. Six of them, thin-walled, and considerably lighter in the hand than they look.
